The Writers Guild Initiative teaches the art and craft of storytelling to vulnerable populations, through free workshops for veterans and their family caregivers, Dreamers, and American Muslims. Brooke Adams and Tony Shalhoub, long-time supporters of the organization as well as performers at two of the past benefits, are the chairs of the 2020 Benefit Gala. The event will feature a reading by an all-star cast Rachel Brosnahan, Billy Crudup, and J. Smith-Cameron and others, of selected short stories by participants in the Initiative’s writing workshops. Lynn McCary Events is responsible for the planning and day-of production of the event.
Founded in 1866, the American University of Beirut (AUB) bases its educational philosophy, standards, and practices on the American liberal arts model of higher education. The March 19 Benefit will include an awards ceremony honoring the Nobel prize-winning scientist Dr. Harold E. Varmus and a live fundraising appeal to seek donations for University’s scholarship funds. Lynn McCary Events is overseeing planning of the event and will co-ordinate the day-of event production.
The Paris Review Spring Revel celebrates American writers and writing and raises funds necessary to carry on the vital work of the esteemed literary quarterly. The 2020 Revel will be Chaired by Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach. Bruce Springsteen will present the Hadada, the Review’s lifetime achievement award, to Richard Ford, and the Terry Southern Prize for Humor will be presented by Roz Chast. Lynn McCary Events will coordinate the planning and day-of event production.
Turkish Philanthropy Funds is a U.S. based community foundation which funds high-impact organizations that address economic, social, and environmental issues. The Funds’ “Colors of Turkey Gala” at The Metropolitan Museum of Art will honor two outstanding corporate leaders for their significant positive impact on communities around the world. Lynn McCary Events is coordinating the planning and the production of the event.
Each April, as part of the annual National Poetry Month, the Academy of American Poets Academy presents an extraordinary live poetry reading and benefit gala that brings together artists, scholars, and public figures on stage of the Alice Tully Hall in Lincoln Center. Past readers included Uzo Aduba, Sam Beam, Gabriel Byrne, Wayne Brady, Glenn Close, Claire Danes, Tina Fey, Terrance Howard, Holly Hunter, Bill T. Jones, Kevin Kline, Maya Lin, Amanda Palmer, Paul Simon, Patti Smith, Sting, Carrie Mae Weems, Vanessa Williams, Uma Thurman, and Meryl Streep. Lynn McCary Events will be responsible for talent relations and stage management at the event.
